I had such fun in England making Meeple items in the kiln, and thought I’d show a few photos of some of what I made.

These little Meeple bowls are super cute and I have a few sets of these,
each with a unique design and shape, and will be showing them at Essen Spiel in October.

Here is a cookie (or Stroop waffle) plate.

I also have plans for Meeple jewelry and will be posting a blog showing those in the next few weeks. I’m planning to offer to make custom jewelry featuring the meeple colors of your choice!

But in other news, Gertie is settling in really well and getting along great with Dobby. We had quite an adventure getting from England as for some reason it’s tremendously expensive to fly a dog from the UK. The UK airlines won’t even talk to the owner, one must go through ‘handlers’ who charge anywhere from £510 to £1400 for the service of doing the paperwork (not including a kennel/crate, pickup/deliver of dog to airport, or any of the pet passport stuff.) Crazy!

Thankfully, the internet came to our rescue and I found out that from anywhere else in Europe, a dog can fly as ‘accompanied baggage’ for a much more reasonable fee (€60-100). So that’s what we did, taking an overnight ferry from Harwich to Holland! Heartfelt thanks to The Man in Seat 61 for the excellent and comprehensive advice of how to painlessly get yourself and your dog out of England to a European airport.

Gertie and I also have to give a shout out to Gert-Jan (Gerty) and Sylvia, who were amazingly generous with picking us up at the ferry port and getting us to Schipol airport in record time. They are superstars!

The fabulous Gerty and Silvia, with Gertie at the Horn of Holland port,
mere moments after our ferry docked. They even came prepared to
fortify me with stroopwaffles. =)

Gertie on the Wey I thought you might enjoy some more photos of Gertie.

This one is taken on the River Wey, not far from Guildford. We enjoyed a goodly many wonderful sunsets on our evening walks.

gertie takes over the bench Here she is, making herself at home. Clearly that dog bed is nowhere near comfy enough!

legs everywhere Ahhh, this is obviously much better than that old bench in England. What comfort! Such support!

Time to hit the torch, and also get that meeple jewelry going in my little kiln!  =)

I’ll have to come see you at Spiel for those plates, the small ones look very nice.

Gertie looks lovely as well. Welcome to the Netherlands by the way, and good bye. Enjoy your stroopwafels.

Oh, me too! These dishes are absolutely adorable, and I’m hoping I can get a set even though I won’t be at Essen. (I’m envious of Essen-goers already, and now even more so! 🙂

Thanks for the lovely feedback everyone! I’m thinking about how I can make/ship meeple bowls. All the ones that I’ve made have already been sent to our friend Karthik in Germany, but I think after Essen, hmmmm, maybe after Christmas actually, if there’s enough interest, I will sort out a trip to go back to England specifically to make bowls for you guys! =)
