Want to meet Rahdo and me in person and, perchance, view some glassy goodness? We will be at Guardian Games in Portland on Mon, 3 September, from 10:00 – 16:00 for their 3rd Annual Labor Day Yard Sale. I’ll have a table showing off my Gamer Glass, and Rahdo will be hanging out to help me, so pop over and say hi. I’ll have a cute little Rahdo sticker for the first 20 people who come by and say “Rah Rah Rahdo”  hehehe!

In other news, it’s been a roller coaster in the studio since last I posted, but we’re coasting to the finish now. Keep reading if you’d like the gory details…

Jenefer Ham's new torching area
All dressed up but no oxygen to torch with…

The funnest bit was, after I figured out what colors of glass had gone missing in the move, I got to go down to Bullseye Glass to steep in the wonder that is the Bullseye factory. Ahhhhh, bliss. And what a lovely afternoon! Got some new colors too! So, now I’m stocked up and ready to rumble…or so I thought.

I went and bought a propane tank, as one does, and attempted to connect it to my hose/torch, but naturally, my Malta fittings aren’t the right size/shape for tanks here. So it took a couple days coordinating with a local propane dealer until we sorted out the parts which were needed, and now I have flames. Hooray!

But then, just when I thought everything was ready for blast off, I discovered my oxygen concentrators would’t run with any reliability. Oh sure, one might putter along for 10 minutes, but about the time I think ‘oh goody it’s working!’ it’d sputter to a stop. Now, maybe we didn’t quite understand how them there foreign motors would react to US voltage/power. (Rahdo bought me a hefty transformer to run them) or perhaps they were damaged in the move. (they endured 5 months of being bungled about during the shipping, and one oxycone was actually shipped upside down!) But anyway, it seems…whoda guessed…sensitive medical equipment which is designed to keep people alive and breathing, well, it may need a bit of coddling rather than being bashed about by 5 moving companies…but the bottom line is…they aren’t working…

So we spoke with an electrician and could either run a dedicated 220 line to a new outlet in my studio (to the tune of $950 plus tax) or I could mothball my european oxycons and buy a US one for $660 which would be stronger AND quieter AND run off the outlet already available in the studio. So guess who has a new toy (I mean tool. TOOL. Tax-deductible Tool!) coming to live with her … Saturday! Oh yes, it’s me!!!!

So I’m a week behind what I’d thought, and really, about 3 weeks behind where I’d HOPED I’d be. But next week should be all systems GO and I shall have a merry week of it. After my labors at Guardian on Monday, of course <grin>

Thanks to everyone for all your patience. I’m sure next week will be a stunning success! It’s gotta be….there’s nothing left to go wrong! (famous last words?…)

So sorry you had problems with different connections, etc and for your tanks being banged around in shipping!

I’m glad you’re finally getting set up.

I hope to meet you at Guardian games. I figure we’ll converse okay. I talk really fast and I get very enthusiastic and energetic (sound familiar?)

BTW, I bought Roll Through the Ages: Bronze Age because Rahdo raved about how you both loved it. I thought my hubby would like it too, and he loves it, as do I!

    Hi Susan
Thanks! It’s all just the normal “new country-getting settled in” stuff that happens every time we move, so I’m used to it by now =) Looking forward to meeting you on Monday! Enjoy your RTTA! We loves it =)

That’s a lot to go through to get all set up again. Now that you are back in the USA, maybe Rahdo and you will get down to Dallas for BGG.con someday. Pam and I would love to finally see you in person. Ginger say’s “Hi” (or at least woof woof).
